  • Week 6: Reflecting on Your Volunteer Experience – Discuss what you’ve learned and how it applies to horse ownership.

  • Week 7: Planning for Success – Finalize your transition plan, address any challenges, and prepare for your new horse.

Yes! Thanks to support from Thoroughbred Charities of America and our amazing donors, this program is offered at no cost. Donations are appreciated but not required.

Do I need prior horse experience?

No! This program is designed for beginners while also valuable for those with some experience.

What is the time commitment?

Plan for 2-3 hours per week of online learning plus 6-8 hours of hands-on experience during weeks 5-8.

Is this only about retired Thoroughbred broodmares?

While we specialize in retired Thoroughbred broodmares, the knowledge and skills you'll gain apply to all types of horse ownership.
